Attached is a two page letter explaining the future of The Best Friends. But don’t worry, be happy! The gist of it – Thursday, March 22nd is our last show and we’d love to see you there!
The Best Friends announce Farewell Show
10 MarBut I want it to be Saturday NOW!
22 FebHere’s our flier for this Saturday’s show, featuring grumpy Mr. Baby, who can’t wait until Saturday when the Best Friends play some bogus live music waaay past his bedtime.
We’ll see you at February 25th at 9 pm!
Dun da da dun! The Crepe Place!
15 FebThat’s right folks – straight from the horses mouth;
We’ll be playing a show with our jolly silhouetted chums the Tumbleweed Wanderers and our good old chum Mr. Marty O’Reilly aka the bluesiest brothah you’ve ever heard.
Event info: February 25th, $8.00 tickets, all ages!
It’s gonna be a blast, a great show, an evening on the town for both gentlemen and ladies, and we are thrilled to be sharing the stage with such talented acts. So come on down!
And you can even fold your clothes!
31 JanOn Saturday February 4th, The Best Friends are playing an intimate show at one of San Francisco’s premiere … laundromats.
You heard it from us – we’ll be at the Brainwash Cafe from 8 until 11 pm, and Guy Fox and Willie Rusert (of the Artificial Gentlemen) will be joining us. There will be booze, food, and detergent – don’t miss out!
Here’s the Facebook event link. We’re a few days away, so in the meantime enjoy this Youtube video. This is what you get when you Google search “Best Friends Guy Fox”
Much love!

San Francisco show Wednesday – till then, enjoy these photos!
19 JanCan you believe it? Our first show in the city by the bay is NEXT WEEK. If you live in the San Francisco area, we’d love to see you out there!
Here’s the details, and you can get tix in advance here. It’s $5 in advance, $8 at the door, 18+. Guy Fox is having their big cd release – so you can preview a few of their new songs to get the gist of their sound. And there’s more info to come soon.
In other news, here’s a new set of photos that have surfaced. Courtesy of Brant Ward – have at ‘em!
Day 8: Purple Rain and Thank You!
28 DecFeaturing Zach Spound, we present Purple Rain – live at the Blue Lagoon in August 2011, complete with a video slideshow.
And that’s Best Friends-ikkah! We had 1 demo mp3, 2 show announcements, 2 image files, and 3 videos. Thanks to all those who helped create and film the artwork, the footage, and content for Best Friends-ikkah.
We’ll see you on New Years, and let’s have a great 2012.

Day 7: San Francisco show(s) announced!
28 DecWe’ve got (not one but) two shows to announce in the city!
Wednesday, January 25th at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall (alongside Guy Fox - cd release – and Buxter Hoot’n)
Saturday, February 4th at the Brainwash Cafe (alongside Emily Moldy and Guy Fox)
At this point, you may be wondering “Wait a minute, two shows! Well, who is this Guy Fox?” Guy Fox is a band from San Francisco. They’ve just recorded their debut EP and are friends of friends (therefore, they’re our friends too!). Their recorded music promises to be a blend of “afrobeat, motown, indie and psychedelia.” Sounds good right?
These shows should be a lot of fun, especially because we will be joined by the wonderfully talented Miss Emily Moldy for the latter.
Fliers coming soon, and we’ll see you at the New Years show!

Day 6: It’s a Crowded Photo – from The Crepe Place, November 2011
26 DecTaken by Brant Ward of the San Francisco Chronicle (aka Aidan’s dad), this photo gives you a rough idea of the atmosphere at a Best Friends show – in case you haven’t been able to get your sweet patootie over to a concert of ours.
Speaking of dads, also featured is Spencer’s papa bear – looking on approvingly as his son pulverizes them drums.
Day 5: The Odyssey (20 minute demo from 2009)
25 DecFrom The Best Friends Newsletter #1…
A very early recording of The Odyssey exists in The Best Friends’ archives that features rap lyrics by Michael Kohatsu, trumpet by Nathan Quave, and Reed Zirjacks on Drums. Though the song developed into its current form about 10 months ago, the title has been around since the very first day we played it. The song has always been a journey of some kind – in fact, our earliest recording of The Odyssey goes on for nearly for 20 minutes! Go ahead and listen to the finished product here…
Well folks, here’s that very recording. We’ll probably take it down after the first of the year (it’s a little too rough for our tastes), so go ahead and listen if you’re so inclined!
Adios till tomorrow,
